What is a teleconsultation?
Teleconsultation is a healthcare service provided by CONSTANS-MED via IT or communications systems. CONSTANS-MED provides patients with the opportunity to have a one-on-one conversation with a medical specialist via remote communication. Patients with access to a selected medical package are eligible for the consultation. Telemedicine consultations are scheduled based on the schedules of medical specialists – primary care physicians, specialists, and physicians with foreign specializations. In medically justified cases, medical specialists may order specific tests or refer the patient to another specialist. In justified cases, the medical specialist may refuse a teleconsultation and refer the patient for an in-person consultation. The final decision to issue an e-document rests with the medical specialist, who is guided by medical indications and the patient’s best interests. Telemedicine consultations are provided only after the patient has been verified, and the content of the medical consultation is recorded and forms part of the patient’s medical record.
